MOORLAND locations across the North became countryside classrooms to more than 1,400 pupils at this year’s ‘Let’s Learn Moor’ event.
Building on the success of the 2017 and 2018 joint venture between British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) and The North York Moors Moorland Organisation (NYMMO), this year’s ‘Let’s Learn Moor’ took place simultaneously across a locations including Nidderdale, Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Northumberland.
Gamekeepers were on hand to explain how moorland managed for grouse shooting plays a key role in preserving and enhancing the beautiful countryside. Pupils also learnt how careful land management has seen significant gains for some of the country’s most endangered ground-nesting birds.
