A MAJOR gas works upgrade will be taking place in Northallerton throughout the next few months

The North of England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is carrying out essential works to upgrade the gas pipe network in and around Turker Lane, Crosby Road and Mill Hill Lane in the town.

The £906,000 project is part of NGN’s ongoing investment in the gas infrastructure in the area and involves laying more than 12,250m of brand-new plastic gas pipes to reinforce the gas supply in Northallerton.

This will ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The works have been carefully planned in conjunction with North Yorkshire Council and started this week.

They are planned to last around eight months.

Steve Storey, site manager for NGN, said: “We have been working closely with North Yorkshire Council to carefully plan these works and will be doing all we can to minimise disruption to customers.

“We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience customers may encounter and thank everyone for their support as we work to complete this project as safely and quickly as possible.”

NGN officials are holding a community drop in centre at The Forum, Bullamoor Road Northallerton, on July 15 between 3pm and 6pm where residents can ask any questions about the works.

Shops and businesses in the area will remain open as usual throughout the duration project.
