TWO Richmond teenagers have organised a hike around Swaledale for a charity supporting local young people with disabilities.

Brothers Luke and Jack Young, both 14, will take on the 14 mile FremiCalverHark walk on July 6 with friends and family.

It starts and finishs from the Bridge Inn, Grinton and encompasses the three main hills surrounding Reeth —Fremington Edge, Calver Hill and Harkerside.

The proceeds from the walk will go to the Paul Curran Celebration Trust, which offers grants to children and young people up to the age of 30 who have any form of disability. The trust can give grants for health needs, education and training.

The trust was set up by Linda and Martin Curran following the death of their son Paul from Friedreich’s ataxia, a rare genetic disease.

John Young, Luke and Jack's dad, said due to the boys being home educated they have the flexibility to get involved with charity events and fundraising.

They have helped raise money for the Paul Curran Celebration Trust for two years by selling goods at local craft fairs. Luke and Jack also raise money for Macmillan.

They are currently in the early stages of helping to arrange a charity golf day to raise funds for a project for Just the Job Enterprise Ltd which is a charity and social enterprise empowering adults with disabilities to achieve their potential by doing valuable work in the community.
