MORE than £2,000 was raised by Tour de Yorkshire supporters in Bedale who created 300 special bikes to help decorate surrounding towns and villages.
The cut out bikes which sold for a minimum of £15 each were created by Dave Allison and sold by Mark Kettlewell from the town's Food Weighouse from a design originally created in 2014.
The £2,100 raised is being presented to the Yorkshire air Ambulance.
As a host town the bikes were in great demand by residents and traders who snapped them up.
Mr Kettlewell explained: "The first 200 sold like hot cakes, so Dave made an emergency drive to the printers for another 100 just a week before the race came in to town."
"Quite a lot of shops and houses have the complete set, 2014, 2018 and 2019 so they might become collectors' items.
"We'll be selling them for the World Cycling Championships, so if Northallerton or anywhere else want to dress up their town, please get in touch." added Dave Allison
All of the profit from the bikes goes to the YAA. Contact info@bedale.org to order.
