THE Friends of the Friarage spent last weekend selling raffle tickets at Tennants of Leyburn and Sam Turners in Northallerton.

The first prize, a brand new Peugeot 206 supplied by Simon Bailes, was at both sites. Tickets have been available at the Friarage Hospital and The James Cook University Hospital as well as other local events.

On Friday, Tennants hosted the event and Alison Tennant arranged to display the car at the Garden Rooms entrance. she said. “Tennants are happy to support the Friends of the Friarage in raising money for the hospital which is so important to the local community.”

On Saturday, the car was at Sam Turners in Northallerton. Charles Turner said: "Sam Turners have been trading in Northallerton since 1931 and we have always been pleased to support the Friends of the Friarage. It has been particularly nice to see first hand how hard they work to raise money for such a great local cause."

The car will be at Northallerton market on Wednesday, May 22, the Pendragon 10K in Northallerton on Sunday, May 26 as well as Barkers Home on Wednesday, May 29. Raffle tickets are also available at the Friarage all this week and on May 29 and 31.

The raffle will take be drawn by Peter Wright, the ‘Yorkshire Vet’, on June 1 at The Barn that Rocks, Grazing Nook Farm, Patrick Brompton. As well as the car there are over 50 other prizes.
