A GROUP which is working to make the district more dementia friendly has been re-named.

Richmondshire District Council is supporting a week-long initiative from May 20 to 26, and will see Richmondshire Dementia Action Alliance re-launched as Dementia Friendly Richmondshire.

The new name gives the group the opportunity to extend its work across the district and continue to work towards its ambition to make Richmondshire a more dementia friendly district.

Last year Richmond Pool became the first pool in Yorkshire to achieve 'Dementia Friendly' status and the group is running organised tours of the facility next week to enable people to see what changes they have made to make it dementia friendly.

“We are really keen to support local businesses in becoming dementia friendly so we hope lots of people will want to see how easy it is,” said Linda Curran, chair of Dementia Friendly Richmondshire.
