GREEN Howards veterans continued a tradition stretching back to the end of the First World War by joining together for 'Green Sunday' in Richmond.
Residents lined the streets to watch the parade which saw scores of veterans march to the War Memorial on Frenchgate then on to St Mary's Church for a special service.
The parade is organised by the Green Howards Association and supported by The Yorkshire Regiment whose band of serving personnel took part in the procession.
The march has been a tradition in Richmond since 1920 and this year's event was one of the best attended in recent years.
Lynda Powell, director of The Green Howards Museum in Richmond, said: "It is really important for all the members of the Regiment because they get to see each other and it rebuilds those bonds that they had when they were serving.
"They get to catch up with each other and it is reflecting the living heritage of the Green Howards."
Ms Powell added: "I think we had one of the best turn outs for several years, there were lots of men on parade."
The museum was also busy with veterans and visitors enjoying its recently refurbished medal room.
