CHILDREN have enjoyed their annual Bike Day which promotes getting out in the fresh air and reinforcing cycle safety.

The event at Le Cateau Primary School in Catterick Garrison, on Friday, May 3, welcomed students and parents for a full day of activities.

Raffle tickets were also on sale with the chance for one lucky child to win a £100 voucher for Banks Cycles in Catterick.

The day’s activities included a bike disco, an obstacle course, a cycle race, some bike art and a special guest visit from the Extreme Mountain Bike Show.

Headteacher Ian Mottram said: "Bike Day is an important day at Le Cateau because not only does it allow the children to have fun and enjoy a day of activities linked to cycling, but it also brings all year groups together allowing them to integrate with children older or younger than themselves. It was lovely to see the older children helping the younger ones who may not have been as confident.

"We are also pleased to see pupils arrive in school with their helmets."
