MORE than 120 staff from a district council are mobilised for the local elections on May 2.

Richmondshire District Council said its election team were now 'putting the final plans in place' in anticipation of just under 37,000 voters.

The council said around 124 staff will administer and support the district's 57 registered polling stations across the district.

Tony Clark electoral registration officer for Richmondshire District Council said: “Putting a cross in a box might seem simple, but there are plenty of things voters need to consider in order to be ready for this week’s local election.

“Your poll card will tell you the location of your polling station – and you will find more information on how to take part at yourvotematters.co.uk.

"Voters can also get in touch with the team here at Richmondshire District Council with any further queries.

“If you are registered, you do not need your poll card to vote, however, we would encourage you to take it with you to make the process quicker and more efficient.”

Local elections are taking place for all Richmondshire district wards and for parishes.

Those include Bellerby, Leyburn, Thoralby, Richmond East and Richmond West.

Polling stations across the country will open tomorrow from 7am until 10pm.

Voters are not required to bring their polling card.
