CUP WINNERS: David Johnson with the Dame Margo Smith Challenge Cup
A CONSERVATIVE club has been awarded with a cup for gaining the most new members of any other branch in the Richmond area constituency.
Chairman of Richmond Conservative Association David Johnson accepted the Dame Margo Smith Cup on behalf of the branch.
Out of the 28 wards in the constituency area, Richmond gained the most members in 2018.
He said: "In a town where most of our councillors are independent or Liberal Democrat, we have done well to get the most new members in the county.
"We have been out canvassing and hold coffee mornings throughout the year.
"Clearly our Conservative-led council is doing something right. I accepted the award but it is on behalf of the councils for making people want to join."
