A ROTARY club project has challenged pupils at schools in Richmond to describe their vision of the future.

Richmond Rotary Club, in conjunction with Richmond Town Council, set up the Vocational Project to see what children think the town will be like in the 2020s.

From their research of the views of young people, the students will promote the aspects of their town and community they would like their council to adopt.

The students will present their visions in static displays and interactive presentations to the council on Wednesday, April 3, in the Town Hall.

Visits by Rotarians to the schools have revealed children and young people care about their community and have creative ideas about how best their dreams may be achieved. The council has promised to keep the material to inform their own view of the town in the future.

Mayor of Richmond Jonathan Preece said: "I have always been impressed with the enthusiasm and creativity of our students.

"It is gratifying to see their commitment to safeguarding their future."
