A FILM made in North Yorkshire is to be shown for one night only in the heart of the Dales.

The Runaways is an adventure about three children and two donkeys who flee their home in Whitby and head for Leyburn in search of their estranged mother.

Directed by Richard Heap it features stars, Mark Addy and Tara Fitzgerald of Game of Thrones fame and BAFTA winner Molly Windsor of BBC's 3 Girls. Richard Heap said after 15 years of working on documentaries he was keen to produce a feature film and said it was undoubtedly the most ambitious shoot he had ever been involved in.

He added: "When I first met Mark Addy he told me I was a brave man wanting to shoot a script with children and animals as principal cast. While it did instigate endless small delays it also brought joy to the set."

Much of the filming is in Whitby, Thirsk, and the North York Moors and Dales.

Having premiered in Whitby in October it has been shown at several film festivals and will be at Leyburn Arts Centre on Friday April 5 at 5pm and 7.30pm with Richard Heap answering questions. Call 01969 624510.
