HOSPICE patients, volunteers and staff are to be recognised in a series of TV adverts.

Members of the Thirsk-based Herriot Hospice Homecare are amongst several other hospices, which are located within Yorkshire.

The advert, is part of a campaign by ITV Yorkshire, to celebrate the work that adult and children hospices do for their communities.

One participant, Lisa Bainbridge of Potto in North Yorkshire, said her mother, Bernice, had been diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2012.

She said: “The advert was a fantastic experience for me; to see the advert come together and be behind the scenes meant the most to me and I’ll cherish the day forever.

"In the months that mum was near the end of her life, regular visits from Herriot really helped as they were able to advise us on how we could borrow the equipment mum needed to stay at home, for example a special bed which could be put downstairs.

"It’s wonderful to give something back to Herriot Hospice Homecare who in our time of need stepped in to support us when we needed them most.”
