MINI litter pickers have made a big difference to their community.
Youngsters from Brompton Community Primary School have teamed up with residents, councillors and supporters of the school to help tidy up their local area.
Armed with hi-vis jackets and litter pickers, the children helped collect sackloads of rubbish during their community litter pick.
Members of the public were invited along to take part in the litter picking sessions which ran in 45-minute shifts from 9.15am right through to 2pm.
And the children's action did not stop there.
The youngsters wrote letters to the government calling for more to be done to tackle the scourge of litter and environmental pollution.
The pupils' work is part of the international Unicef Outright campaign which has pollution as its focus for 2018.
Earlier this year Brompton School became the first in Northallerton to win recognition from Unicef for its work promoting pupils’ rights.
The school received a Silver Rights Aware, Rights Respecting School Award.
