VOLUNTEERS from a tourist information centre have produced a new book of easy walks in the Richmond area.

The Richmond Information Centre has published the book called Richmond Walks, and offers a mixture of both town and country scenery. All four walks are based upon circular routes that begin and finish in Richmond.

Centre volunteer Donald Cline said: "The catalyst for the Richmond Walks has arisen from the constant stream of requests for recommended walks that visitors to Richmond's Information Centre make when they call into the library where this vital facility is located.

"After asking for maps, parking discs and places to eat, visitors are keen to find out where they can take a good walk.

"Whether guests are just in town for a few hours or their stay in Richmond is a bit longer, having a concise walking guide should fill a real gap and hopefully provide visitors with some beautiful experiences they'll remember."

Each walk has a friendly step-by-step route description so that users know how to get from A-to-B as they stride-out. There are also some beautiful original maps with lots of new photographs that show readers what they can expect from each walk.

Richmond Walks has been produced by the volunteers in the Information Centre along with other local contributors who have an excellent knowledge of the most popular trails in the area. The venture has been kindly supported by Altberg, Richmond's own boot-maker plus other local businesses. The guide sells for just £1.00 and is available from the Richmond Information Centre, Castle Hill Book Shop and other outlets in town.
