A GENEROUS donation has helped ensure an archery club is open to all, regardless of mobility.
The Thirsk Bowmen already have several members with disabilities but the club wanted to improve its inclusiveness even further.
Club chairman Ken Billings contacted MD Mobility in Northallerton seeking a discount on a wheelchair for members’ use and was delighted when the company went a step further and donated a wheelchair for free.
Mr Billings said: “It was a nice surprise and it is nice to get help from a local business.
“One of our members, Arnold Fewell, is a champion for people with disabilities and through him we have done lots of things, such as getting a defibrillator in, he is a real frontrunner with things like that.”
Mr Billings said a club wheelchair is a valuable asset in case any member takes ill out in the field or if a disabled member needs to use it.
The club, which is now it is 24th year, shoots at Baldersby Park just outside Thirsk.
