A ROWER from a four-man team preparing to cross the Atlantic Ocean visited pupils to talk about the challenge.

Children from Cundall Manor School, near Thirsk, had the opportunity to quiz one of the Row4Victory crew, Glyn Sadler, about the their preparations for the mammoth row.

The crew are set to take on the 3,000-mile trip across the Atlantic in December as part of the inaugural Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

They are also raising funds in support of the Royal British Legion and Soldier On.

Currently, fewer people have rowed the Atlantic than have climbed Mount Everest.

The team will start in La Gomera, Canary Islands, and finish in Antigua.

The crew are friends from across Yorkshire and represent all areas of the military.

Marketing manger for Cundall Manor School, Paul Swalwell, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Glyn back to school.

“Earlier in the year, Glyn, Will, Fraser and Duncan held a row-athon here and it is great to see how interested the pupils are in the journey and the challenge in general. We will certainly be keeping a keen eye on the race and cheering Glyn and the boys on all the way to Antigua.”
