RIPON Community Link’s annual Apple Day has provided a financial windfall for the charity.

Held at Ripon Walled Garden, the organisation more than doubled last year’s fundraised income, with receipts to date totalling in excess of £3,300.

Almost 400 visitors who attended Apple Day - including City Mayor Coun Pauline McHardy – had the opportunity to make juice out of their own apples, explore the Victorian orchard, watch entertainment provided by Morris dancers, browse stalls, build dens and decorate biscuits.

Victoria Ashley, Ripon Community Link chief executive, said: “Whilst the final total is yet to be confirmed, the figure we have raised so far is double that of last year’s, which is just fantastic.” Ms Ashley also thanked everyone who made the event the success it was.
