AN EIGHT-month season of events, exhibitions, theatre and music to commemorate the end of the First World War will come to an end next month.

Richmondshire Remembers comes to its conclusion with two events on November 10 and 11 in Richmond.

The Ribbon of Remembrance Walk, organised by Carl Watts of The Green Howards Museum, will take place twice on each day – the morning walk on Sunday, November 11 ending in Richmond Castle for the start of the Remembrance Sunday service.

The walk will start from Catterick Garrison and make its way to Richmond Castle along a route displaying pictures and artefacts from families in the area who had relatives involved in the war.

Richmond Remembers – A Concert for the Armistice, is an evening of words and music, images and song to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice. The music will be provided by the Reeth Brass Band, songs by Musicality Ladies Choir and words from cast members of Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society’s production of Journey’s End.

  • The concert will be held in Richmond Methodist Church on Saturday, November 10 at 7.30pm with proceeds going to Help For Heroes.
