MIDDLETON Lodge has announced the return of their Summer Series with a range of open air events and workshops set in The Kitchen Garden and grounds of the estate. Located just on the outskirts of Richmond, North Yorkshire, the estate will be hosting a series of events starting at the end of June and finishing at the end of August. The three-month event calendar will include a selection of handpicked films, as well as theatre productions and garden-inspired workshops.

Just after the Summer Solstice, under the stars and surrounded by Yorkshire wildlife, the renowned Three-Inch Fools will be bringing their unique production of A Mid-Summer’s Night’s Dream to The Kitchen Garden. Consisting of just five actors, the Three-Inch Fools take an inventive approach to this Shakespearean classic. On the evening, the estate will be serving handcrafted garden cocktails from their Boiler House Bar.

During the summer holidays Edith Nesbit’s English classic The Railway Children will also be performed in The Kitchen Garden. Little ones can watch the adventures of Bobbie, Phyllis and Peter as they try to solve their father’s mysterious disappearance.

“Our Summer Series is set to be another fantastic collaboration with artists and renowned organisations from across the UK," says James Allison, owner of Middleton Lodge. "Our theatre performances for this year are so different from what we’ve done before.”

Returning this August for two weeks is Middleton Lodge’s Open Air Cinema Series, with a film screened on The Coach House lawn every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Kicking off the season is When Harry Met Sally, followed by a variety of new and old movies, hit comedies and cult classics.

“Now in its fourth year running, our open-air cinema nights have become a permanent fixture on our summer events calendar," says James. "Our movie reel for this year has something for everyone. Come rain or shine, it wouldn’t be summer without a fold-up chair, a glass of wine and our favourite films.”
