A SUMMER event which has been celebrated in a village for more than a century, has marked another successful occasion involving the whole community.

Kirkby Fleetham Feast is a week-long celebration held in the village near Northallerton, which culminates in a show on the green.

On Saturday, the show celebrated its local talents, with classes in crafts, baking, vegetable-growing, flower arranging, art and photography, as well as the chance for children to exhibit their work.

There was also a dog show and demonstrations of gun dog training from Kirkbourne Spaniels and from Bedale Hunt hounds.

There was also live music, food and other entertainment.

Earlier in the week the village came together for sports and games including football matches, dominoes, quoits and a fun run.

The first Kirby Fleetham Floral and Horticultural Society Show is thought to have been held in 1876.
