A TRANSFORMED church garden is being officially opened on Saturday (June 18) by celebrity gardener Nigel Harrison, who has been invited to give it his blessing.

The garden of Rev Ian Robinson, the Rector of St Gregory's Church in Bedale, has been transformed over the past two years into a space for worship and contemplation for the church congregation and the local community.

Rev Robinson said the overgrown two acre plot has been totally transformed. "It is now a haven for wildlife and an amazing space to engage with God, this woodland wildlife garden has meandering walkways, a bog garden, pond outdoor classroom for use by schools and other groups, insect houses and nesting boxes as well as several pieces of sculpture and areas for quiet reflection and medication," added Rev Robinson.

The opening by Mr Harrison, Radio York's gardener is at 10.30am and will be followed by a short service of dedication along with light refreshments. All are welcome.
