CHURCHILL Drive became the region's luckiest address after three residents turned up trumps on the postcode lottery and were handed £10,000 each.

The Catterick postcode DL9 4XR was drawn as the Saturday street prize giving Andrew Townend, a self employed electrician, Christine Kinglands and a third unnamed winner, the major prizes.

Mr Townend’s partner, Lisa Robson, said they had only been playing the lottery for six months.

She said:”I feel a bit guilty that we’ve been playing for such a short time.

"We’ve won bits and bobs before, but nothing as fantastic as this.

"We are looking to buy another house so this will be such a great addition to our deposit.”

Mrs Kinglands was thinking more about holidays, adding: “Though we have no holidays planned, my little girl Abbie has been asking to go to Hawaii.

"We have some jobs around the house that need to be done, but it would be lovely to get some sun as well.”

Postcode lottery players have raised nearly £24m for good causes, most of which goes to local projects to make a difference to communities.

More than £8,000 has been awarded to projects in the local area, including Thirsk Falcons Junior Football Club. The club was awarded funding to purchase football kit, provide coach training courses, and supply equipment .
