GIRLS from North Durham Academy in Stanley have done the County Cup double by winning trophies in both cricket and football.
Last year, the U13 girls’ cricket team became the first Derwentside secondary school to lift the Durham County Lady Taverners Cricket Trophy and went on to defend their title in March with another victory.
The girl’s will go on to represent Durham County at the regional competition in York.
The U14 girls’ football team won the Durham County Schools’ Football Association County Cup in May beating St Bede’s, Peterlee, 4-3 after extra time.
Principal Kevin Reynolds said “To win such prestigious competitions takes a lot of skill, practise and resilience.
“I know as a school we are proud of all of the girls involved in their team’s achievement.”
