STUDENTS are celebrating after winning a clutch of prizes at a regional hair and beauty competition.
Young people from New College Durham had amazing results at the recent Association of Hairdressers and Therapists event at the Federation Brewery in Gateshead.
The students placed first across a range of categories including body art, cut and blow dry, make-up and the main competition Total Team Presentation.
Winners include Taylor Hylton and Mel Brown, as well as Sophie Baird and Stacey Wrack, while in the team event the winners were Beth Gill, Samantha Twist, Rhiannon Brown, Chelsea Chrone, Teone Phillips, Melanie Corner.
Lindsay Deswert. the college’s lead practitioner in hair and beauty, said: “The competition is one of the highlights of the students’ calendars and something they work extremely hard towards all year.
“We are delighted that they came away with so many first places.”
