RESIDENTS in a flood-hit village are to be asked their views on new protection measures.
The village of Lanchester has been repeatedly hit by flooding in recent years and an investigation has been carried out by Northumbrian Water, Durham County Council and the Environment Agency into the causes.
The agencies say they now have a better understanding of the causes and details of their findings, along with proposals for a flood reduction project are to be revealed next week.
A Northumbrian Water community vehicle will be parked in Front Street on Lanchester on Tuesday, between 11am and 3pm, when villagers will be able to talk through the proposals.
The company says that reducing the amount of surface water entering the sewer network can help address flooding problems.
