NEW football facilities will be officially opened at a former school this weekend.
The £600,000 project has built a new changing pavilion and a refurbished artificial pitch at the former Roseberry Sports and Community College at Newfield, near Chester-le-Street.
The new changing pavilion, which includes four team changing rooms, two officials’ changing rooms and a clubroom, will be officially opened on Saturday morning.
Funding for the project came from Durham County Council and local councillors, helped with a £293,000 grant from the Premier League and FA Facilities Fund.
Durham County Council will work with Hilda Park FC to manage the facilities in return for priority bookings, while other clubs will also be able to hire them.
