CARE home residents have been busy clicking their knitting needles to make hats and blankets for babies at Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary’s special care baby unit.

Residents, family members and staff at Fours Season’s Hallgarth Care Home, in Durham, have all helped the home’s make a fourth donation of items during lockdown, consisting of 50 hats and three blankets.

The home’s activities coordinator, Gail Bowden said: “We are always keen to support the baby unit and our ‘Hallgarth Knitters’ have really enjoying making these.

"Every tiny hat is knitted with love.”

District Nurse Claire Butler collected the donation to deliver to the hospital.

She said: “Huge thanks to everyone who has contributed to this basket of hats and blankets, we are all extremely grateful for your support.”
