PLANS for new holiday homes near a County Durham golf course have been lodged with planning chiefs.

Earlier this month, Sharpley Golf Course bosses applied to Durham County Council to build new structures at its site in Seaton, near Seaham.

This includes two “prefabricated holiday dwellings” on a site adjacent to the golf club’s existing car park.

Each building would boast a bedroom/living space, bathroom and kitchen alongside low energy lights, TV and aerial sockets and a combi boiler.

According to planning documents, the applicant expects to receive a council tourism development grant to bring the proposals forward.

The council is expected to make a decision on the application by the end of August.

Public comments can be made by writing to the council’s planning department up until Tuesday, July 14. For details visit the council’s ‘planning portal’ and search reference DM/20/01530/FPA
