CHILDREN from Langley Moor Primary School are about to deliver ‘good fortune’ to Durham City by performing the Traditional Lion Dance during the city’s Chinese New Year celebrations.
Pupils have spent several weeks and rehearsing their performances under the guidance of Sifu Shaka Brown, a teacher of traditional Chinese martial arts.
They will perform on Saturday in several central Durham locations, dancing alongside the performers from Oceans Apart Kung Fu Club.
Headteacher Sharon Stelling “Our children have loved learning about the Chinese culture, the importance of Chinese New Year, and the symbolism of the Year of the Rat. It’s great that they can then demonstrate what they’ve learned.”
