A WRITER is hoping to hit the big time when his crime novel, The Man on the Street, is published in March.

Trevor Wood, 61, has already found success as a playwright, co-writing international hits like Dirty Dusting and Waiting For Gateaux but this is his first venture into crime-writing and the book has already received huge plaudits from a host of established authors, including Lee Child, Mari Hannah and Elly Griffiths.

The Man on the Street is set in Newcastle and tells the story of Jimmy, a homeless veteran grappling with PTSD, who witnesses a murder but no-one believes him.

When a body turns up he is forced to play a dangerous game of hide and seek in Newcastle’s darkest corners.

The hardback publication will be launched with an event at Waterstones, Newcastle on Tuesday, March 17 with the author talking to Tyne Tees’ presenter Ian Payne about the book. Tickets are £5 from Waterstones.
