EDUCATION inspectors have graded two schools for primary age children as ‘good’.

Ofsted said South Stanley Infant and Nursery School and Greenland Community Primary School have maintained their standards since previous inspections.

In November, both schools, which are part of Stanley Learning Partnership, underwent separate two-day inspections within a two-week window of one another.

Of South Stanley Infant School, the report noted the strong culture of the school and said it has high expectations.

The report said: “Pupils thrive, growing in confidence and independence, as they move through the school.”

Headteacher Louise Thompson said: “We endeavour to create a nurturing and caring environment in which our children thrive every day of their educational journey and the report has highlighted this. perfectly.”

At Greenland Community Primary School inspectors said pupils were found to be happy and safe.

Last year’s SAT results saw the school exceed the national average in both maths and writing while achieving it in reading.

Mark Stewart, chief executive of Stanley Learning Partnership said, “We are absolutely delighted with the judgement of both of our schools.”
