A CHARITY is recruiting couples to dance the night away for a good cause.

Couples can partner up with a friend, spouse, relative or anyone who is happy to don their dancing shoes to raise money for St Cuthbert’s Hospice in Durham.

Working with professional dance choreographers, from either Applegarth Academy of Dance or Dudman Academy of Performing Arts and Fitness, couples will receive eight weeks of expert group dance tuition.

The glittering grand finale on Saturday March 7 at The Lancastrian Suite, Gateshead, will see the couples compete for the coveted glitter ball trophy.

The charity event helps to raise funds for the vital care provided by the hospice for those with life-limiting illnesses, a

and their families.

Events co-ordinator Helen Smurthwaite said: “Beginners are welcome and no previous experience is necessary at all. It’s such a fun event and really is just like the TV show with our couples working with professional choreographers and even doing a behind the scenes video to be shown on the big screen at the Grand Finale.”

Last year’s event saw Michael and Michelle Anderson, from Ouston, take home the winner’s glitter ball trophy after completing a fun filled Charleston performed to Pencil Full Of Lead by Paolo Nutini.

Dance lessons will start January 12. To find out more or call 0191-386-1170 ext 5 or email fundraising@stcuthertshsopice.com
