A COUPLE have submitted a planning application to create a small holiday park next to their home, on the outskirts of a seaside town.
Mr and Mrs Cudmore, from Dalton-le-Dale, near Seaham, want to demolish some derelict outbuildings next to their home and build a development comprising of five holiday lets, with a sixth building that would initially be used as a laundry and store.
The applicants also want to put four two-bedroom pre-fabricated holiday lodges in a field immediately to the north of the property.
The site is on the B1285, between Dalton Heights and Cold Hesledon, about a mile north of the A19's Seaham junction.
Their application says the scheme would help address a shortfall of visitor accommodation, identified in a study of County Durham.
