BUS operator Go North east has invested £720,000 in state-of-the-art environmentally friendly buses for its X30 route.

The three new buses will serve Consett, Catchgate, Annfield Plain, Stanley, Sunniside, Whickham, Dunston and Newcastle.

They join the company’s premium brand X-lines, which were built at the Scarborough factory of Alexander Dennis, and will be rolled out over the coming weeks.

Go North East will launch the buses at Tanfield Railway on Sunday, along with giveaways, goodies and free coffee.

Martijn Gilbert, managing director, said: “We hope more people will embrace public transport as it continues to get even better and enables them to play their part in helping to tackle rising congestion and improve air quality.”
