THE Chester-le-Street Riverside Fireworks returns this year with a magical family movies theme.

The event organised by Stanley Events, will feature a spectacular fully choreographed fireworks display accompanied by songs from favourite family movies including The Lion King, Aladdin, Frozen and many more.

There will also be an opportunity for children to have a meet-and-greet characters from some of the family movies, along with a host of entertainment, a funfair, a range of street food stalls and a fully-licensed bar.

Entertaining the crowd ready for the fireworks display will be the CBBC channel’s Annie Guy who will sing songs from some of this year’s latest films. There will also be live music from Geoff Mull, a singer songwriter from Newcastle, who appeared on the X Factor in 2014.

Annie Guy has appeared in West Side Story, Sweet Charity and the UK and Canadian tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie. As well as musical theatre, Annie can be seen as the regular character Jane on CBBC Channel’s Dixi. Annie dances for Pinewood Studios and can be seen in the recent film Breathe. Alongside performing, Annie runs her own company Musical Theatre Studio Ltd where she coaches aspiring young performers in pursuing their performing dreams right here in the North East of England.

Annie Guy, who was born in Seaham, said said: ‘’I am delighted and so grateful to have been asked to sing at the firework display this year, as I love the North-East. There's nothing better than coming back to your roots.’’

Headlining the event will be live music from Geoff Mull and his band. Singer Songwriter Geoff, who appeared on X Factor 2014 Boot camp 6 Chair Challenge, continues to write and record new material.

Since appearing on X Factor Geoff released his debut album Different in March 2014 and EP Say My Name in December 2015. Geoff’s current single Just Remember was released in August this year.

Tickets for the event are selling fast therefore it is advisable to buy in advance to avoid disappointment.

Carl Marshall, director of Stanley Events, said: “The event is once again proving very popular, our tickets sales are going extremely well and are certainly up on last year’s event. Our 2019 event is going to be epic.”

Gates open at 4pm on November 3 and the display will begin at 6.30pm.
