WORK to repair a gas main in Seaham will start on Monday.
Northern Gas Networks will carry out the work outside New Seaham Primary School, on Byron Terrace.
As the gas main is located in the road, temporary four-way traffic lights will be in place of the exiting lights at the junction of Byron Terrace and Lord Byrons Walk to allow the work to be done quickly and safely.
Road users are advised to allow extra time for travel while the work is being carried out.
Mark Watson, site manager at Northern Gas Networks, said: “The safety of our customers and engineers is our number one priority, and the use of temporary traffic lights is absolutely necessary to complete this essential repair.“We would like to thank customers for their patience at this time and apologise for any inconvenience experienced. We will keep residents and road users updated throughout the work.”
To report gas leaks call National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800-111999.
