LANDMARKS across the region are to be lit green and white on Tuesday as part of a suicide prevention campaign.
The If U Care Share Foundation, which is based in Chester-le-Street, is running its annual Inside Out campaign in line with World Suicide Prevention Day.
The charity asks supporters to turn their clothes inside out and post images on social media using the hashtag #AskMeWhy and #InsideOut.
The Millennium Bridge in Gateshead will light up in the foundation’s colours in a show of support for the campaign, along with Penshaw Monument, Northern Spire Bridge, Keel Square, Fulwell Mill and Roker Lighthouse on Wearside.
If U Care Share Foundation fundraising and events manager Dominic McDonagh said “Every 40 seconds someone takes their own life and we believes that those deaths are preventable. Our Inside Out campaign is a chance to get people talking about suicide and mental health, starting a conversation that could potentially save lives.”
