HANDSOME hounds and pretty pooches are being asked to step out for an annual sponsored dog walk to raise money for hospice care.

St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham, hosts its Paws for a Cause event every year to raise money so it can continue to provide care for people with terminal illnesses.

The walk at the Riverside Park, in Chester-le-Street, will take place on at 12.45pm on Sunday October 6, with two route options available, either 1.5 mile or three miles.

Each dog signed up before Monday September 30 will get a doggy goody bag, rosette and certificate on completion.

There will be a variety of stalls to browse selling dog treats and pet supplies and lots more.

A fun Dog Show at 11am will feature categories such as the prettiest pooch, handsome hound, best fancy dress and the coveted best in show.

Helen Smurthwaite, events coordinator at St Cuthbert’s Hospice said “We’re so pleased to be bringing Paws for a Cause back this year. “The event is always lots of fun for everyone involved.

Registration for the walk is £10 per dog. Humans go free. Entry to the Dog Show is £1 per category per dog. To register visit www.stcuthbertshospice.com.
