CHILDREN from an estate in Durham got the chance to get up close to snakes, spiders and other creatures at a family fun event.
The free event was held at Laurel Avenue Family Centre, in Gilesgate and gave children, parents and grandparents the chance to share a picnic and take part in activities.

As well as getting up close to animals, brought by Crazy Creatures, they had the chance to do arts and crafts, have their faces painted, and play football.
The event took place at Laurel Avenue Family Centre
There was also a Double Decker Fun Bus, balloon modelling, and free clothes swap.
It was put on by One Point, which runs the centre and is part of Durham County Council's children and young people service.
Family centre leader Farrah Elgey said: "We've put this on as a free event to help families out over the summer holidays.
"It's been packed."
