A ROCK music festival is being held this weekend for the fourth year running.

The Burning Rock Festival is on Saturday at the Stanley Community Football Centre on Tyne Road and will be headlined by Lock n Load.

The four piece, high-energy group will entertain the crowd with rock covers from some of the greatest bands from around the world.

A band spokesman said: “We are proud to be the headline act for this year’s Burning Rock Festival and look forward to bringing you great covers from bands like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Foreigner, Whitesnake and many more.”

The seven band line-up also includes live music from Riverain, The Ballbreakers, Rigid Digits, Dog In a Box, The Memes and No Ordinary Angel.

The event, which is under a marquee, offers a family friendly day of live entertainment including a licensed bar, food vending and market stalls, and a fun packed day out for all the family with children’s activities, inflatables and face painting.

Joe McMahon, from Stanley Events, which is organising the festival, said: “It’s great that we are able to bring it back for a fourth year and we are able to entertain families as well as keeping the rock scene going.”

Gates will open at 1.30pm, with live music from 2pm until 9pm. Tickets are £5 and entry is free for children under 16 with a paying adult. Tickets can be bought on the day, in advance at PACT House, 39 Front Street, Stanley, DH9 0JE or direct from any of the bands performing.
