MORE than 30 businesses are taking part in a restaurant week, which kicks off today.

Restaurants, bars and cafes across Durham are taking part in the week-long event aimed at bringing diners into the city.

Among them are the newly opened Cosy Club, which opened this week, burger restaurant Fat Hippo, Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, The Market Kitchen, Pizza Express, Collage at the Radisson Blu, The Picnic Basket, Cafedral, Dicksons, Zizzi, Bills and Ask Italian.

Adam Deathe, business engagement manager at Durham BID, which is putting on the event, said: “Dine InDurham Restaurant Week is a great way to explore the leisure offer of the city.

"We hope it’ll encourage visitors to come back into the city time and again when they discover a new favourite spot to eat, or rekindle their love of a family favourite restaurant in Durham, due to all these fantastic time-limited special offers."

Dine InDurham has been running since 2015 and has run a number of smaller events but this is the first time there has been a full restaurant week, a concept which has proved popular in other cities.

The event starts today and runs until Thursday, July 25.
