THE walkway of a newly developed shopping centre has been unveiled.

Work on the £30million Riverwalk development is nearing completion and its new walkway, which runs alongside the River Wear, has just been unveiled.

The walkway connects new shops and restaurants between Milburngate Bridge and Framwellgate Bridge.

The Northern Echo:

Nick Berry, partner at Clearbell Capital, which is behind the development, said: “This is a significant milestone in the development.

"It follows on from some recent exciting news about new restaurant brands and Odeon confirming its Luxe concept for the scheme.

"We are hard at work behind the scenes and look forward to welcoming visitors very soon, when they will be able to enjoy the new walkway and the great views that The Riverwalk boasts.”

Odeon has announced it will be opening its six-screen cinema next month.

Among the restaurants which have announced their openings are Cosy Club, LogFire Pizza and Delaney’s Donkey, as well as the Lane7 bowling experience.

The development also includes student accommodation, which opened last year.
