A CINEMA chain has revealed the interior of a new venue, which is due to open this summer.

Odeon, which is opening in Durham, has not confirmed its opening date but says the luxury six-screen cinema will be open for the start of the summer blockbuster season, including the release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix on June 7.

The cinema, which will create 38 jobs, is part of The Riverwalk, the the city centre, which is now nearing the end of its construction.

It will feature 403 handmade, reclining seats across all six screens, and will have a 94-seat iSense screen, which promises an immersive cinema experience with its curved 15m x 6.2m screen, 4k projection, delivering almost nine million pixels and ultra-high definition and 3D sound.

The auditoriums will feature a total of 189 speakers, with standard screens having Dolby 7.1 surround sound and state-of-the art picture quality.
