A PUBLIC meeting is being held to give people the chance to voice their views on plans for a new bus station in County Durham.
Last week, Durham County Council revealed plans to demolish the station in North Road, Durham, and build a new one.
Durham MP Roberta Blackman-Woods, who welcomed the proposals, is holding a meeting on Friday, March 1, when she is also seeking people’s views on licensing policy in County Durham.

She said: “It’s really important that the whole site is redeveloped to provide a high quality building in keeping with the historic city centre, and that it is a safe, clean and comfortable space not only for passengers and staff, but for the bus drivers who will use it too.”
“I hope that as many people as possible will get involved in these initial discussions. I look forward to working with the local community and the council on this, and will continue to liaise with the bus companies and unions to ensure that we get an excellent new and technologically driven bus station and travel interchange that Durham deserves.”
It takes place at Alington House, in North Bailey, Durham, from 5.30pm to 7pm.
