A SOCIAL club in North Durham could sell alcohol up to 1am under a new premises licence bid lodged with Durham County Council.
Earlier this year, the New Kyo Constitutional Club and Institute off Croft Terrace, in Annfield Plain, near Stanley, applied for a new premises licence.
This covers permission to host plays, films, indoor sporting events, dance, live music and alcohol sales between 10am and 1am.
As part of the application, owners outlined plans to meet licensing rules around preventing crime and disorder and protecting children from harm.
This includes operating a “challenge 25” age policy, CCTV, plastic glasses being used outside and refusals for drunk and disorderly customers.
A notice will also be displayed making sure children are supervised at all times in the entrance area and limiting access to gaming machines at the venue.
The deadline for public comments passed on Monday, December 31 with the final decision resting with licensing bosses.
