A MISS World contestant from Newcastle is in final preparations in Sanya for Saturday’s 68th edition of the Miss World contest.

Alisha Cowie, Miss England, is from Newcastle and is currently studying for a degree at university with aspirations to become a detective.

As part of her Crime Scene Investigation and Forensic Science degree, Alisha can be found dusting for fingerprints and in her spare time enjoys swimming and is learning to surf.

Speaking about her experiences with the Miss World team in China, Alisha commented: “We have been in China for three weeks now. Everyone has been very welcoming and made me feel at home. I’m proud to represent England at Miss World 2018.”

Katharine Walker, Miss Northern Ireland, is from Hillsborough in County Down and is a paediatric intensive care nurse, Linzi McLelland, Miss Scotland, is a business studies graduate from East Kilbride and Bethany Harris, Miss Wales is from Newport.

The four will join 118 other Miss World contestants on Saturday, December 8.

The current Miss World is Manushi Chhillar of India.
