A MAN who was at the wheel of a car pursued by police round the streets of a town has denied that his driving could be deemed dangerous.
Simon Paul Faulkner appeared by video link to Durham Crown Court from the city’s prison accused of dangerous driving.
It stems from the police pursuit of a Citroen Saxo in Ryton Crescent and Kingston Avenue, in Seaham, on Wednesday October 17.
The 33-year-old defendant, of Ryton Crescent, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Martin Scarborough, for Faulkner, told the court: “He accepts being the driver at the time.
“The police were looking for his passenger and tried to intercept the vehicle.
“But, he says he was not driving in the manner described by the police.”
The case was adjourned for a trial, of one day-plus, to start at the court, on Monday February 25.
