LOCAL talent is the feature of an art exhibition being staged at a popular North-East cultural venue.

The exhibition runs at Ushaw, on the outskirts of Durham until Saturday, December 15.

‘Christmas Presents from Ushaw’ features 64 artists all living, working or studying in County Durham, showing more than 180 artworks, ranging from watercolour and oil paintings, prints, engravings and linocuts, basketry, textiles, sculpture and collage.

Local landscapes include High Force, Durham Cathedral and the Yorkshire Dales, as well as scenes from further afield, including the Serengeti Desert and Tuscany.

All works are for sale and, with a huge variety of different subject matter, there will be something to suit all tastes.

Opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 11am-4pm, with last entry at 3pm. An annual visitor’s entrance charge of £5 gives unlimited entry to the chapels, exhibitions and principal rooms for 12 months.
