A CYCLIST was taken to hospital with back injuries after being knocked off his bike.
The man suffered the injuries following the crash in Sherburn Village, near Durham, today.
A spokeswoman for Durham Police said the collision happened at about 7.20am in Front Street and involved a Ford Fiesta and a bicycle.
A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said one patient was taken to hospital.
She said: “We were called at 7.11am on Thursday to a road traffic collision on Front Street, in Sherburn Village, Durham. We dispatched a double crew ambulance and transported one patient to the University Hospital of North Durham.”
It is not known how serious his injuries are.
The crash happened at the mini-roundabout in the village, which has been the site of a number of accidents, sparking calls for traffic calming measures to be put in place at the spot.
It is understood site visits have taken place to see if anything can be done to improve safety at the roundabout, which also has exits on Hope Street and Hallgarth Street.
